Area located about 40 km North of the capital, Reykjavik. The zeolite mineralization oocurs in basalts on the NW and W side of the fjord Hvalfjordur.
The soutern part of the fjord belongs to the Capital Region (Höfuðborgarsvæðið) and the northern side to the Western Region (Vesturland).

Note on the mineral list: according to Weisenberger & Selbekk (2008) all heulandite from this area is heulandite-Ca.
