This occurrence is in the Katmai National Monument. MAS/MILS # 0021260006.
Location: This pumice occurrence is on the north side of Takli Island in Amalik Bay. The location is accurate within a few hundred yards.
Geology: The country rock at this pumice prospect are Upper Tertiary volcanic rocks of the Aleutian volcanic arc (Church and others, 1992). Apparently there was some exploration in the area for pumice but there is no record of production (Roehm, 1947; Moxham, 1951; Rutledge and others, 1953).
