Abandoned Cu–Zn–Pb mine, hosting a gold mineralisation related to a sulphide-bearing quartz vein within Triassic phyllites, located along the Fiora River about 10 km southeast of Manciano (Grosseto Province, Tuscany) and 0.75 km southeast of Ponte San Pietro (Ischia di Castro municipality, Viterbo Province).

The ore occurrence is located near the boundary between the metasedimentary rock sequences of southern Tuscany and the Quaternary volcanic rocks mainly of northern Latium. It consists of a 4 to 6 m thick, 60 to 80 m deep and 200 to 300 m long sulphide-bearing quartz vein, hosted by low metamorphic grade Triassic phyllites and meta-arenites of the Triassic Verrucano formation. The main minerals present in the quartz vein of the Ponte San Pietro deposit are pyrite, chalcopyrite, sphalerite, galena, arsenopyrite, tetrahedrite, boulangerite, and gold. Native gold grains have been observed both in sulphide minerals and in quartz crystals. The gold content, that can reach 20 ppm, represents the highest grade of Au in the ore deposits of southern Tuscany-northern Latium.
