A halite occurrence located at Salt Springs, E end of the Salt Springs Reservoir on the North Fork of the Mokelumne River.
Salt Springs Reservoir is a reservoir in the eastern portions of Amador County and Calaveras County of California in the Sierra Nevada about 30 miles (48 km) east-northeast of Jackson and is fed by the Mokelumne river. The reservoir is in the El Dorado National Forest at an elevation of 3,900 feet (1,200 m). The Halite bearing springs are located on the south (Calaveras Co.) side of the reservoir. This reservoir is not to be confused with Salt Springs Reservoir located in south western Calaveras co. near Copperopolis.
