A syenite pegmatite in larvikite mentioned by Brøgger (1890) as located on "Festningsøya" ("Fortress Island" when translated). The name of this island is today called Citadelløya. The area wich was a former military fortress (Stavern (Fredriksvärn) Fort, and is today a recreational, public area. In 1860 a breakwater was made that connected this island to the larger Stavernsøya.
