The Gåsgruvan ore field has been mined since late middle ages. The earliest known records are much later; 17th century (eg Koberg Mine 1643). During the 19th century both iron and limestone were mined. For instance such persons as the geologist Anton Sjögren and “Geschwornern” von Scheele were involved in the operations.
From 1881 zinc was produced in the Koberg Mine.

From North to South occur for instance the following mines; Tjärngruvan, Järnvägsgruvan, Gåsgruvorna (mentioned as Enggruvan 1872 in the files) Mellangruvan, Igeltjärnsgruvan, Blankagruvan, Hinnersgruvan, Bankogruvan, Östra and Södra Liselundsgruvorna, Ladugruvan, Engruvorna, Kobergs järnmalmsgruva, Ängelgruvan, Kobergs zinkgruva and Bankobergsgruvan.
It exist as well quite a number of smaller test pits& mines. Today several of them have been incorporated in the larger Gåsgruvan.

Historically it has not benn noted for its mineral wealth- it is just recently (1990-2010) through the larger scale limestone quarrying which has taken place a number of beautifully crystallized minerals have been discovered. See Gåsgruvan.
