Description: Sjögren (1891) described and named svabite as a new mineral from Harstigen, Värmland, Sweden. At the time they did not distinguish between OH-dominant and F-dominant calcium arsenate. Biagioni & Pasero (2013) discuss the chemical analyses of Sjögren and shows that the analyzed sample of Sjøgren was not svabite (F-dominant), but johnbaumite (OH-dominant). Thus the validity of Harstigen as the type locality for svabite is therefore questionable. The occurrence svabite at harstigen needs to be proven.
