A very old silver mine, variously known as Hedwig Mine, Hedwig samt Barbara Mine or Hedwig und Paulus Mine. It was first worked in the 16th century, but its early history is not recorded. Operations continued with interruptions until 1860. Since the early 18th century, it also produced cobalt ores.
The mine worked on the following veins:
- Hedwig Morgengang
- Neuglück Flacher
- Reicher St Barbara Gang
- Schwarzer Adler Flacher
The workings included the Gottbeschert Glück adit (Gottbeschert Glück Stolln, included in 1783), Hedwig adit (Hedwig Stolln), and St Barbara adit (St Barbara Stolln). The latter has not to be confused with the St Barbara deep adit (Tiefer St Barbara Stolln), which was an independent working. The sett straddles the border between the municipalities of Annaberg and Frohnau.
