Owned by the company "Firma Schmidt Basalt". The quarry was closed after a massive rockslide in October 2010. As a result of stopping and removing the drainage system, the quarry is now filled up with groundwater.

Located on the south slope of the Altenstein hill (443 m asl).

The quarry is known for very large crystals of chabazite (5-6 cm) and phillipsite in basalt. Both minerals occur as zoned crystals with either Ca or K as dominating cations, and both species can be present in one crystal.
