Specimens of wulfenite associated with baryte, which appeared on the western market in the late 1990s, were initially labeled as coming from Xichang, from "Xichang Mine" (which appears to be a complete mis-nomer) or from "Mianning Mine, Xichang". It later turned out that these specimens are really from the Maoniuping Mine near Maoniuping town in Mianning County, which is adjacent to Xichang County (Wilson and Origlieri, 2007).
