Mineral specimens found in one of the numerous localities in the area north of Amboasary, especially in the Communes of Tranomaro and Maromby, lacking specific locality data have often erroneously or incompletely been labeled just "Tranomaro" or "Tranomaro area" since Tranomaro is a center in this area.
Please see the entry for either Tranomaro Commune or the Maromby commune for the different localities.
A new find of grandidierite from an undisclosed locality in the Tranomaro area was made in 2015 (Vertriest et al. 2015), for further information see Unnamed grandidierite deposit.
