In 2007-2008, during construction of a new alignment of the highway E 18, a few syenite pegmatites in larvikite was exposed, and minerals were available for collecting for a short periode. The largest was located immediately southwest of the entrance to the Rødbøl tunnel, east of the Bommestad bridge. Some remnants of the pegmatite can still be seen high up in the exposed roadcut, but most of it is now (2011) covered by sement.
