Maria Magdalena mine is a group formed by two mines and some small prospects, located North of the Ulldemolins town, close to the Prades river. These mines worked, during the last century until the 1960s, fluorite veins embedded in Carboniferous shales and associated with granitic porphyry.

The most important mining works in Maria Magdalena mine were carried out at the so called "Galeries del Pont" (Bridge galleries), located near to the bridge over the Prades river; there are old dumps, and two shafts (Pou Petit -small well- and Pou Gran -big well-). The second mine is smaller and called as "mina o galeria de la Font de la Metge" (Doctor spring mine/gallery). The outcrop of "Rasa de l'Alzina" (Oak trial pit), close to 'del Pont' works, has yielded the best cechite specimens.
During its active time, mines yielded very significant samples of yellow fluorite. Some small specimens are still possible to pick up in the dumps.

NOTE: Do not confuse Mina Santiago with Maria Magdalena mine. Mina Santiago is only a large area investigation permission, not a real mine.
