Type zoned and Muscovite class pegmatites are they located in micaceous schists and migmatization which constitute the basement of possibly Precambrian age, and is intrusive by Paleozoic granitoid. They are exploited by mica and as accessories are obtained crystals of green Beryl, Beryl variety Aquamarine of good development and gemological quality, associated with quartz, feldspar, plagioclase, albite, tourmaline, garnet and apatite among others. The sites in the area are owned by the mining company Talapazo S. R. L., which exploits by mica and Gemological minerals. All holdings are made by rudimentary methods of pirquineo (to strike stone wall).

With regard to the disposal of mica or Scrap of the deposits in the sierra de Quilmes, there is a history that was used in drilling for oil and paint and non-stick paint by the company DARMEX S.A.C.I.F.I., province of San Luis, which acquired 27,000 and 20,000 kg, during the year 2001.

More of 30 outcrops of pegmatitic and granitic bodies were observed in the area most of them were not explored or exploited yet.
