The gem mining area of Htin-shu-myaing (Oak Forest) is situated at the most southerly point of the Injauk Plateau, adjacent to the Mogok-Panlin dirt road.
Rubies, blue sapphires, and spinels are found in the alluvium. Star rubies, star sapphires, and schorl are also found. Most of these gems are of low-to-medium quality. Usually between one and two carats, they are suitable only for cabochons. By 2005 the mine was closed. - Ted Themelis (2008) Gems & mines of Mogok.
