The general area of Panlin-Injauk is situated south of Bernardmyo, between the villages of Panlin and Injauk. The mining area at Panlin (1652 m. ASL at the principal mining site), has been known since British times; it is situated to the west of the Mogok-Bernardmyo dirt road, adjacent to Panlin village (22Β°59'00''N. 96Β°27'01''E.).
Gem mining takes place at the alluvial gravels along the banks of the Panlin-Chaung by several MGE-joint ventures and some illicit mining operations. In 1999, about thirty joint venture mines were working the alluvium deposits in open-pit, myaw-dwin and lebin mining schemes. By September 2001 only three mines were in operation.
The gems found at Panlin mining site include aquamarine and goshenite, ruby, sapphire, spinel, peridot, quartz, zircon and almandine. - Ted Themelis (2008) Gems & mines of Mogok
