The area of Anyant-taung (Spinel Hill), also known as Hmya-taung (Arrow Hill) is situated just north of Pyant-gyi. The area produces mostly red spinels from spinel-clinohumite-phlogopite marble, chondrodite-phlogopite-graphite marble and spinel-bearing, and forsterite marble. Some illicit gem mining takes place north of Anyant-taung. - Ted Themelis (2008) Gems and Mines of Mogok.
