Yarrie Station is a pastoral lease (cattle station) with an area of approximately 2,500 sq kms.

Agate is recorded in the area without any reference to specific locations. It is found within the Maddina Formation, which is massive amygdaloidal and vesicular basalts and andesites, which contain amygdales filled with quartz, agate, carnelian, chlorite, calcite, and epidote.

The Bamboo Creek Member is porphyritic amygdaloidal massive fine grained and flow banded rhyolites, rhyodacites, and dacitic flows , some parts containing quartz and agate filled amygdales.
