The outcrops of alkaline igneous rocks and carbonatite dykes up to several km across and isolated by wind-blown sands are situated in the area of c.25x16km around the villages of Sarnu and Dandali, within the Malani Igneous Province, Barmer District, Jodhpur Division, Rajasthan, India.

These outcrops intrude Precambrian rhyolites and a suite of Lower Cretaceous quartzites, syenite, alkali olivine basalt, hawaiite and trachyandesite.
