This small lead mine is situated next to Swindale Beck, just below the B6277 Brough to Middleton-in-Teesdale road. This is an old mine which was worked sporadically from around 1780 until about 1866, quite often along with other small workings in the area. Very little remains today apart from a stone arched level and the remains of a small building. The dumps have been washed away by the beck. There are also a line of shallow shafts or bell pits along the side of the road heading towards the Deadmans Gill workings.
