Cu-Au mine opened 27th February 2003. Owned and operated by MMG (subsidiary of China MinMetals). Previously owned by OZ Minerals, Oxiana Resources and Rio Tinto.

The mine consists of 3 copper open pits and 18 gold pits (of which 15 are now (09/2011) complete).

The mine produces gold dore and copper cathode.

NOTE: No specimen grade azurite has been produced in Khanong Pit since mid 2015; specimens allegedly from the open pit or from "Laos" are probably from China (Michael J Stott, https://www.mindat.org/mesg-55-434532.html).
