Manerinerina is a town and commune in the Ambato-Boeni District.

It is from this locality that produces the alluvial cobbles of carnelian that are used in the lapidary industry of Madagascar. The alluvial cobbles of chalcedony are found often lying on the surface of the ground where the people who work these stones attribute their often fine carnelian color to local brush fires that periodically sweep over the area. Also the color in these alluvial cobbles are often heated before working to enhance the color of the chalcedony.
Information provided by Haussmann Giebfried who is a citizen of Madagascar and has been a dealer in the various minerals and lapidary materials for many years.
