Ben Lomond Mine
The Rainy Mine was one of the earlier mines in Monte Cristo, and was the only major shaft in the district. The mine was constantly fighting the water coming through the rock since it was dug directly below the creek. Over the years of production, the mine was reported to have produced 20,000 tons of ore although this seems unlikely. The shaft extended 210' down and had an unknown amount of drifting coming off of it. There also was an 800' long adit driven into the hillside near the shaft. The mine was recently destroyed during reclamation and little remains of the historic site. It mainly produced Gold and Silver from Arsenopyrite and Pryite.
