The Ötscher mountain (1893 m above s.l.) is situated in the Lower Austrian part of the northern limestone alps. The main part of this mountain is built up with the Dachstein unit (upper part) and with Wetterstein dolomite and Haupt dolomite (lower part). Those are Triassic units.
