As minas de Moimenta de Cabril, segundo testemunhos de antigos mineiros, eram um complexo bem organizado e que dispunha de bons equipamentos. O uso de martelos pneumáticos e explosivos era habitual na abertura das galerias (Ferreira, 1955).
“Trabalhei dentro das minas a furar; era tudo furado com martelos de ar… depois era carregado o fogo (explosivos) e fazia-se o rebentamento. As minas tinham várias aberturas…” [Residente em Moimenta, António Mendes Pinto, 74 anos].
Este complexo possuía também a sua própria lavaria “Quando era nova com vinte e poucos anos trabalhei na lavaria. As pedras eram moídas, seguiam para umas mesas e depois a água e ácido ajudavam a separar o volfrâmio, eu digo ácido porque a minha roupa ficava toda queimada…” [Residente em Moimenta, Alice Duarte da Silva, 78 anos].
Estas minas possuem ainda um património industrial importante. Ainda se pode observar os carris dos vagonetes que transportavam o minério. Quando carregados, circulavam quase por gravidade, quando vazios a mão humana os empurrava até ao local da carga.
Uma boa observação da zona permite constatar da complexidade deste empreendimento (Ferreira, 1955).
