Villette is a small town (about 500 inhabitants) which has been merged with its neighbour, Aime, in 1972.
This large quarry is opened for gravel used in concrete (250.000 to 300.000 metric tons per year (data 2009)).
The calcite specimens labeled "Aime" should be referred to as coming from this locality.
Another (older) smaller quarry is opened in this village for marble (violet marble called "Br猫che de Tarentaise" (Tarentaise's breccia) or "marbre bleu de Savoie").
