The most important and richest mining claim in the area considering the both iron and fluorite exploitation.
Mined for iron at the end of the 19th century (debut 1886), it ended in January 1963.
The work in Escaro-Nord was harder due to water-infiltrated galleries.
A mining transition from iron to fluorite began in 1959-1960 leading to a huge quarry producing at its exploitation peak 130 000 tons of ore per year.
The fluorite expanding quest destroyed a part of the village (Escaro d'Amont) and several former iron galleries.
The quarrying work stopped in 1993.
