The surface contains laterite, then below this waxy light grey clay, mottled clays and ferricrete totalling 5 to 15 metres thick, then another clay zone 10 to 15 metres thick. Next is a saprolite zone to 60 metres below the surface, and finally bedrock of metabasalt, BIF, and felsic quartz porphyry.
The gold is contained in 2 secondary zones and a primary zone:
1. Horizontal to gently north dipping laterite 1 to 5 metres thick containing most of the gold mineralisation.
2. Saprolite hosted in sericite altered silica rich saprolite clays from the extensive weathering of the felsic porphyry intruding into the metabasalt, with some supergene enrichment of the gold.
3. A primary zone of steeply dipping shears marginal to and within the felsic quartz porphyry, crosscut and truncated by BIF units.
