The Brown Hill Gold Mine presently consists of two small pits named Brown Hill and Brown Hill East. The mine is located on the western edge of the Boogardie Goldfield in an area called Galaxy. The Windbag Gold Mine is several hundred metres to the north-north-west, Mars open pit to its east, and small Vegas/Saturn West deposits to the south.
The present open pits are the result of modern mining in the 1980's and 1990's. In July 2010, Ramelius Resources purchased the Mount Magnet gold leases from Harmony Gold. In 2011, it started mining the existing nearby Saturn and Mars open pits. The Brown Hill pits are being used for water storage for this operation. Both are in a poor state of repair.
