An aggregate quarry located 1.5 km NE of Woodleaf. Owned by Western Rowan Co. (timeframe unknown); and by the Martin Marietta Aggregates Co., Southeast Division. First operated in 1900. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated.
Mineralization is hosted in Late Permian granite, diorite/adamellite. The ore body is 350 meters wide, 1,200 meters long and covers an area of 420,000 square meters. Local rocks include granite of the Salisbury Plutonic Suite.
Workings include surface openings comprised of a large, stepped quarry operation with an overall depth of 70 meters. Operation includes a mill.
