Ordinary chondrite, unequilibrated (H3-5; S4: W0/1)
Fall, 16 October 2003; 17 kg, many stones.

A meteorite fell ~21 km from Oum Dreyga near a long wall guarded by soldiers in the Gour Lafkah Mountains. A number of fresh pieces were picked up soon afterward, but other somewhat weathered pieces were only collected after rainfall had occurred. Moderately tannish and very light-colored chondrules and fragments are conspicuous on freshly broken surfaces. Both the olivine (Fa16.7± 6.0) and two populations of Ca-poor pyroxene (Fs14.4 ± 4.4; 17.4 ± 1.3) are quite variable in composition. Oum Dreyga has, until now at least, received little attention in the scientific literature.

Oum Dreyga is one of 44 witnessed unequilibrated ordinary chondrite falls and is the most massive of 5 unequilibrated falls classified exactly as 'H3-5' ordinary chondrites. Luponnas fell in 1753, but all the other H3-5 falls — Didim, Fermo, Magombedze, and Oum Dreyga — have been recovered since 1990. The more recent individual meteorites have been described with varying degrees of attention in the scientific literature while fragments of some of them have been advertised on the open market.
