But there was only a limited amount of calcined or roasted ore prepared, and after 52 tonnes of this had been processed smelting ceased, the furnace having been operational for only two days. The existing stalls could only supply enough ores to keep the furnace going five or six days a month. Plans for further stalls of an improved type were prepared, but the company had run out of money. Facing liquidation, a further smelting took place in July, and in 100 hours of operation 137 tonnes of ore were fed into the furnace. Nevertheless, the company went into liquidation. Its total production was some 20 tonnes of copper matte, shipped to Britain and valued at 390 pounds.
