A former lode Au occurrence/mine located in sec. 28, T18N, R11E, MDM, about 7.3 km NNE of Washington, on the divide (Gaston Ridge) between the South Fork Poorman Creek on the W and Little Canyon Creek on the E, W of "The Beartrap," on National Forest land. Operated prior to 1907. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
The ore body contains a 4 foot wide by 350 foot long ore shoot in the Lady Oakman vein. This vein is 4 to 8 feet wide, strikes N10W and dips 65E, in slate. Four other veins were reported that parallel the Lady Oakman. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a 1,162 foot crosscut adit that intersected the vein at 862 feet.
The Lady Oakman vein was reported to assay about 0.2 ounce Au/ton.
