Quarrying area at La Piana locality, just to the right of the road leading to Colonnata, consisting of two active quarries: the upper hillside La Piana quarry, also known as La Piana C or Quarry no. 176 (see coordinates), and the lower open-pit/underground La Piana A or Quarry no. 175 (44°4'40.5"N, 10°8'15.5"E).

Minerals can be found in the vugs lined with shiny well-crystallized calcite. The most common accessory mineral is pyrite (crystals up to 5 mm). At La Piana quarry the first find of lavendulan (in association with gypsum and malachite on altered enargite) from the Carrara marble cavities has been recorded.
