This consists of a compact group of shafts about 10 kilometres north of Bardoc. Access is difficult and for the determined. Just north of Bardoc (which consists of three houses), an unmarked track heads north from the Goldfields Highway. Other tracks in the vicinity go to the Wycheproof mine and a dam. The first track is relatively faint and little used and winds north for 10 kilometres passing many other isolated shafts within a short distance west and east of the track.

The mine was originally known as the Lancashire Hero. It was taken out by R.A. Ashworth and James Wightman in 1904, GML 1232W, 12 acres. They proceed to slowly hand mine in hard ground sending regular small crushings until 1907. The main shaft was down to 129 feet, on a reef 1 foot wide. They extracted 323 tonnes of ore for 887 ounces of gold. A prospector called Noakes took out the lease in 1910, but no more is heard.

All falls quiet until July 1940, when the lease was taken out by Ellen Pearce, Tony Butun, Frank Bevich and Ivan Zurich. 20 acres.GML 2198 W former P.A. 3734W.

The mine is named Ellen Pearce after one of the syndicate holders. She was the wife of Walter Nicholas Pearce, owner of the nearby Mount Vetters pastoral station.

Almost immediately the mine is let on a 12 month option to Jack Moss and party, who pay the leaseholders 5000 pounds. Late 1940 and the first half of 1941, several crushings emanate from them. Ore was being sent to the South Kalgurli battery Golden Mile Kalgoorlie.

In 1946, the lease is owned by Franich and Soljack, who amalgamate it with a neighbouring lease, joining forces with H.R. Smith.
