Two lines of reef were discovered by Green and Markham (surnames) early 1895. Later in the year the shaft was down to 183 feet. W. Sparnon is mine manager. By early 1897 the lease was abandoned after little gold had been found for several months prior.
This is a rather unpromising start and no subsequent activity was found. However the present exploration company holds high hopes for the location. Estimated resources at the location is 444 500 tonnes of ore at 1.85 g/t for 26 500 ounces of gold.
The site is located north of Bardoc. Follow the same directions as that listed for the Ellen Pearce Mindat location. Lochinvar is one of the many historic shafts passed on the way to the Ellen Pearce mine along the north striking track.
We have placed the marker in the general area to give a location indication, but obviously the co-ordinates are approximate.
