The mineral site is located about three kilometers from the hamlet of Pian di Fieno (Piandifieno), at the junction of State Road 26 with the road leading to Zerli hamlet.

The site is a small quarry characterized by outcrops of pillow basalt; there are pillows of various sizes with rounded shapes and a well-pronounced tail on their lower side.

Striated fault surfaces are also visible and they are characterized by a variable color from light green to white due to the presence of minerals such as iron oxides, calcite, and quartz.
