The original prospectors were H. Urquhart, R. Davidson, Moss, and H. Anderson. The Reefer's Prospecting Syndicate left Adelaide May 8 1895, and upon arriving in Kalgoorlie purchased the Reefer's Eureka Gold Mine from the original prospectors, who had sunk a shaft to 70 feet and driven for 40 feet.

The syndicate proceeded to root around looking for a large rich lode. However, after 18 months James Klotz was appointed mine manager, who abandoned this line of enquiry, and re-focussed on the original reef worked by the prospectors.

This was followed down until it pinched out at the water level. A thin seam of mustard gold was followed for 10 further feet, and the reef widened to 2 feet, being sulphide ore, containing gold, and possibly disseminated telluride.

After 1901, much of the information dries up, and appears the mine was worked by tributers and prospectors intermittently until the war years. Northmore and Hughes (surnames) is mentioned in 1908 as raising rich stone. Benno Theo Hoepner who owned the mine in 1912, was charged with dealing with stolen gold and received two months imprisonment.
