Round Hill is a historic location but only one mention was found. GML 148L. 40 tonnes was crushed in 1906 for 32.4 ounces. A further 15.09 ounces of alluvial gold had been found at the location.
Gibb-Maitland arrived around this time, stating two men were working the lease (but fails to name them). He states there were several workings, and an inclined tunnel for 43 feet to a reef bordering a fault. The reef was up to 3 feet thick, dipping south. Within the tunnel a shaft had been sunk showing gold in loose rubble. There were also several parallel reefs.
The site is 200 metres south of the Skull Springs Road, bordering Camel Creek, the last creek before the Twenty Mile Creek, which borders the east end of the goldfield. It is now a bulldozed area obliterating most of the shafts and workings, except for a couple at the southern end.
A trial mining programme was initiated in 1998, with shaft sinking and drives put in, with 600 tonnes of ore extracted. The ore shoots were small but rich, with gold grades varying with the quartz density. Only small pockets of ore were located. The stockpiled ore averaged 6 g/t Au. In 2002, a further 20 holes were drilled. 800 metres east of Round Hill is a gold anomaly averaging 13.3 g/t.
Millennium Minerals plans to open a pit at the site in coming years.
