A small town in the Lahn valley.

NOTE: On old specimen labels, Nassau refers to the ancient principality, of which the present town was the capital. At times, the principality included large parts of the present states of Hesse and North Rhine-Westphalia, but the boundaries changed considerably during the 18th and 19th centuries, often within less than a decade. Thus, presenting all localities that once formed part of the principality of Nassau in a simple and understandable manner is an impossible task. In the late 19th century, the principality of Nassau was absorbed by the kingdom of Prussia.

The German Wikipedia gives dates:
"- Herzogtum Nassau, Herzogtum und Staat des Deutschen Bundes (1806–1866) in den heutigen Ländern Hessen und Rheinland-Pfalz
- Hessen-Nassau, eine preußische Provinz (1868–1944)
- Provinz Nassau, eine preußische Provinz (1944–1945)"
