Mentioned briefly in Simpsons Minerals of Western Australia. 'A considerable tonnage of ochre, chiefly red ochre, has been mined at Kalgoorlie, and used in Perth paint factories.'

It was mined from MC 350 and RC 348 at Belgravia, being a mixture of kaolin and limonite. Wesgarth's pit is mentioned, 6 miles north of Kalgoorlie close to the old railway line. Also one mile east of Kalgoorlie, near the Devon Consols mine, Burton and Truscott were raising red ochre in 1933.
