At the Golden Lake locality, tochilinite forms microscopic dendritic coatings composed of thin black plates with the characteristic bronze lustre. It occurs sparingly in crystalline limestone with chondrodite, mica, clinoamphibole, serpentine, clinopyroxene, rutile, apatite, titanite, graphite, pyrrhotite and perrierite.
