Originally developed in 1869 on quartz-iron oxide-pyrite in host metasediment of the Basket Range Sandstone, and worked for alluvial gold. Workings eventually included a complex of shafts, adits, and connecting drives, through which several lodes were worked.

No tonnage, nor grade of ore has been determined due to lack of records. Total production was estimated at >1866gm (60oz) gold. All work had ceased by 1898.

Situated on section 41, hundred of Onkaparinga, notes for this locality listed in the Record of Mines of South Australia, 4th ed., are included with the Uraidla (Balland's) mine, with which the property adjoins.

Note: Not to be confused with Lady Edith, Humbug Scrub Diggings, Barossa and Para Wirra Goldfields, Williamstown, South Mt Lofty Ranges (Adelaide Hills), Mt Lofty Ranges, South Australia, Australia
