The composition is published as CaO: 0.09, MgO:38.87, MnO: 0.31, FeO: 21.69, SiO2: 37.61. Total 98.57 wt% ( Dunil Palitha Gunaseker(2008): Dunilite- Discovered by Mr Dunil Palitha Gunasekera ). Individual crystals up to 30cm are known, often with a tabular habitus and dark grayish green colour. Twins and crystal aggregates are not rare. (Muller)

'Hornblende'
Description: Found as dark green or black crystals up to 35 cm. No chemical analysis has been published of the amphiboles, but the refractive index is 1,658-1,667-1,678 and the density 3,17 g/cm3. Hornblende is in this context used in the petrological use of the term, i.e. as a calcium subgroup amphibole excluding tremolite-actinolite series minerals.
