Discovered in 1970 from a low level aeromagnetic survey. The mine was operational by Giants Reef Mining from 1986 to 1988, producing 1420 kg of gold from 80 000 tonnes of ore at 17.6 g.t Au. The plant at TC8 was also processing ore for the Chariot mine, 5 kilometres to the west. The TC8 mine is 5 kilometres west of Tennant Creek, and still holds an exploration camp.

The lode material is talc-chlorite-magnetite, or chlorite-magnetite-sericite, the latter also containing chalcopyrite, native gold, and bismuthinite.
