With the establishment of a granite quarry in 1915 the small village of Rodès became for 20 years a real industrial locality brimming with life and animation. The granite deposit of good quality was exploited for cobblestones for the streets of major cities of South of France as Perpignan, Toulouse, Sète or Marseille and for filling new roads pavement. The closure of the quarry before 2WW is linked to the tarring of the roads from the thirties.
