Located 800-1000 metres north-west of the Mistral Ruby Mine on the western side of Entire Creek. Explored as a side project by Mistral Mines NL, while it was assessing the ruby deposit in the 1980's. Further investigation was conducted by Barfuss Corporation Pty Ltd in the 1990's. The vermiculite was found to be of inferior quality and plans to mine it were shelved.
The vermiculite occurs at the contact of ultramafic and anorthositic rocks. The ultramafics are a series of diapiric lenses from a few metres to several hundred metres in size. The rocks are talc, carbonate bearing magnesium hornblende, peridotite, and meta peridotite.
The vermiculite covers an area 200 metres in length, 2 to 12 metres thick, under the Entire Creek alluvium. Total volume of vermiculite across this area ranges from 10 to 60%. Total resource of vermiculite was estimated at 10,200 tonnes.
