The typelocality of lasnierite is located in the Ibity massif. CNMNC Newsletter No. 42 locate it as 30km NNE of Soavina in the Ambatofinandrahana District, Amoron'i Mania Region and 10 km SW of Manandona in the Antsirabe II District, Vakinankaratra Region.
Probably one of the Lazulite-bearing blue quartzite localities worked for material fit for facetted gemstones and decorative tiles.
Exact locality for type specimen is not known. Very approximately coordinates are given by Rondeau et al. 2019 as 20°140S, 47°20E (which is at the southern border of the Ibity massif at the border between Vakinankaratra and Amoron'iMania Regions). These coordinates are used in Mindat, even though these are not precise, the very locality may be on the other side of th border, in the Vakinankaratra Region.
The Analambano deposit may be a possible candidate.
