Logan County is a county in western Ohio. It was founded on March 1, 1818 and named after General Benjamin Logan (1742-1802), an officer during the American Revolutionary War and later a Kentucky state representative. Benjamin Logan was also responsible for escalating the Northwest Indian War, when he led a force of militiamen into the Ohio territories and destroyed several towns belonging to the Shawnee Native American tribe. The county seat is Bellefontaine.
