Near-vertical, cm- to dm-wide ankerite-calcite veins in the Bowland Shale (Carboniferous age)

Some wider veins contain breccia fragments of the black host rock.

Rarer vugs are lined by pink ankerite and contain euhedral calcite crystals up to several cm in length.
